Ebay: 2003 Mach I Magazine Cover Car w/779 HP

ebay_2003mach1.jpgYou might remember this 2003 Mach I with 779 horsepower that graced the cover of Modified Mustang magazine back in October/November of 2005 because it was billed as the ultimate street sleeper.  And that it is for putting down some rediculous high horespower and torque numbers for a street car with no nitrous.  Just as a comparison for horsepower figures this car doubles the hp rating number of my 2003 Cobra (390 hp) with its amazing 779 hp rating.

This car features a single turbo setup with no nitrous that was built by Livernois motosport back in early 2005.  The auction has just under 3 days left and only six bidders have got in on the action with the high amount at $15K.

For a full list of the mods and a ton of photos you can visit LivernoisMotorsports.com. To view the auction click here.

Carroll Shelby: the Man, the Cars, the Legend

Carroll Shelby Ford MustangSeveral authors over the years have written about the legendary Ford Mustang and its continuing legacy.  Much focus from the Mustang’s past remains strong even today, with the ideas from Carroll Shelby still making a market impact.  Wallace A.Wyss, a writer who hails from Detroit Michigan but who has made his home in California for 36 years, has written a new book entitled SHELBY The Man. The Cars. The Legend. Wyss, also is also shortly publishing Ford GT40 and the new Ford GT, specializes in Ford, having previously written The Super Fords, Shelby’s Wildlife: the Cobras and the Mustangs, and DeTomaso: the Man and the Machines.  Folllow a Q&A with Wyss inside on the background behind his book.

H&R Springs FMJ Ford Mustang GT

H&R Springs Full Metal Jacket Ford Mustang GTThe Full Metal Jacket Ford Mustang GT, the most recent H&R Mustang project, was unveiled at the 2006 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with astounding success. Inheriting from an extremely proud lineage of high performance pony cars, the H&R ‘FMJ’ project – short for “Full Metal Jacket” which is a type of bullet – is inspired by the 1960’s movie Bullitt and its namesake Ford Mustang. Some more subtle styling is used, but each and every modification is hand-selected, making this new-gen Ford Mustang one to long for.

No Smoking and Driving in Germany

Do you enjoy smoking while driving ? German drivers may not be able to do so in the future if the Governor of Substance abuse has her way. Governor Sabine Baetzing wants the activity to be a thing of the past even if it would be an invasion of privacy. As a non-smoker, I would be very favorable to this but I’m sure smokers would be furious about this law.
Why does she want to ban smoking in automobiles? She claims that the fumes produced while driving are much more harmful. I think the (…)

Real or Fake Semi-Transparent Mustang Billboards

fordmustangads.jpg

Not really sure what to think of these Mustang billboards made out of GE Lexan semi-transparent resin that give a blur effect as you drive by them.  Photos of these billboards recently surfaced over at Adpunch which they claim is an ad campaign launched by Ford for the Mustang.  The only visible link to Ford is a small Mustang logo in the bottom right of the billboard.  A general assumption could be made that what Ford is trying to convey the message when you drive by this billboard this is what it looks like in a Mustang, just a blur.

The whole semi-transparent Mustang billboard campaign just seems like one big hoax . I guess we will just have to wait and find out.   If anybody has any insight into this please do tell in the comments. A high-resolution photo after the jump.

Project Mustang GT vs. Shelby GT500

projectgtvsgt500.jpg

With dealers charging up to a $20K markup on Shelby GT500’s, Edmunds Inside Line thought their had to be an easier way to get the power and performance without spending so much. So they took it upon themselves to build their own Shelby GT500 clone on a budget from an old project car they had laying around.

Inside Line began with their long-term 2005 project Mustang that had been sitting around for about a year or so. Next they put together a list of parts and suppliers from which to build their GT500 clone. Through the whole process Inside Line documents everything including photos, videos and prices for what they spent to make this project become a reality in two part series. Here is the link to the first part and the second.

I have to admit it’s one of the better articles I have read lately and it has me thinking about why not do this myself instead of waiting for GT500’s to come down to MSRP. I guess the only thing holding me back is reliability. Yes it would be nice to do a buildup on a stock Mustang GT but how reliable will it be with all the modifications. I think I can hold off for now until the GT500 comes into my price range.
